Day Three

Updated: May 27, 2019

Today we toured the city of Torino. We had a very stylish tour guide Matteo lead us through the city on a 2hr tour. As in most of my pictures posted, they do NO justice. The first stop on our on foot tour was to the Palazzo Reale Torino or what we call the Royal Palace.

The palace now hosts a museum and cafe you can pay to enter and enjoy a quick bite and drink. The museum is the home of the second most famous Leonardo da Vinci's masterpieces, the man in red chalk. This is a self portrait done in red chalk and housed in the Biblioteca Reale.

Before we left we visited the cafe for a chocolate tasting and sampled some of their hot chocolate and pastries. The hot chocolate is not like ours but simply melted down chocolate with a little water to thin it out. This is what the Royals ate like here in the palace.

Right next to the Palazzo Reale was the Cappella della Sacra Sindone - The Chapel of the Holy Shroud. Some of the most detailed artwork and architecture in a church I've seen.

The chapel was quite small from other famous ones I've seen but none the less was beautiful. Also unique to the chapel was that it housed the Holy Shroud. A shroud was the cloth they would put over ones dead body and this particular is called Holy because it is said to be THE ONE that covered Jesus after he was crucified. If you look closely you can see the details of a man with his arms crossed at the wrists and the holes where he was nailed to the cross. What an honor to have been present to see this artifact tied back to the crucifixion of Jesus.

Later after the tour we head back to the bus to drive to Cuneo. This small little town was so welcoming and cute. Before checking in our hotel we all had a nice 4 course meal that included some unique ingredients that were quite tasteful.

We started off with a roasted chicken salad with pomegranate and celery, the first course was a tumeric style risotto with veal sausage and a tomato sauce, second course was charcoal crusted pork with yogurt pea and apple sauces drizzle, and either a espresso (not pictured) or chocolate cake dessert . I chose the espresso dessert which jiggled and had the consistency of flan and was very delicious.

Afterwards, we checked in for the hotel and then walked towards the plaza for a drink. We found a cute place called Gali and settled there for the night. About 15 of us went and they accommodated us by splitting our checks at the end which is rare. We had a great time getting to know each other and sipping the night away with cucumber martinis. Cuneo so far has been great to us.

Stay Blessed!!

Horrible... I couldn't sleep or get comfortable BUT it went by a lot quicker than the flight there. Thank goodness for in flight...
